Renaming Dashboard Items – Tableau Training
Tableau Training Video
An integral part of Tableau Training at The Information Lab Ireland is our focus on best practise. Being well-organised and clear in your processes is key to building a great dashboard. When you are dealing with multiple sheets, objects and/or containers on a dashboard, it is useful to know what each one represents in your workflow. To make things easier, Tableau has introduced the ability to Rename Dashboard Items.
In this short Tableau Training video, Daniel Ling of The Information lab Ireland walks you through the steps you need to take to make creating your dashboard much easier.
Here is an edited transcript of the video with selected screen grabs…
In this short video, I will demonstrate a new feature of Tableau 2019.1 which is the ability to Rename Dashboard items in your item hierarchy.
This dashboard is quite long and there are quite a few charts. I have it currently set up with a lot of containers. That can be quite confusing when you are trying to rework something or look back through a dashboard.
So what you can now do, is simply rename these containers instead of having lots of containers named Horizontal.
Simply right-click, select Rename Dashboard Item. In the pop-up, rename the container and click OK.
So it’s just a nice little feature that Tableau have brought in to make navigation around dashboards much easier.
