The Information Lab Ireland is Hiring
Innovative Data Analytics Company is looking for “bright minds”
The Information Lab Ireland are hiring. The Dublin-based company are on the lookout for what they describe as “bright minds and people with life experience” to join their growing team across Ireland. The company is the leading provider of all things Tableau and Alteryx in Ireland and is a champion of the recent changes in Data and Data Analytics taking the world by storm. Over the last three years, the company has garnered a reputation for innovation in Data Analytics and its approach to recruitment is no different.
“To be honest, we are fairly sure that we provide the best training in Alteryx and Tableau available in Ireland bar none,” says Tom Pilgrem, Head of the Trainee Programme at The Information Lab Ireland. “So instead of waiting for people with the right qualifications to come and join us, we decided we would do it the other way around and pick people who have the right character and attitude and give them the skills they need.”
Applicants for positions don’t even need to submit a C.V. Instead prospective candidates will be asked to download the free application of Tableau Public and build a Data Visualisation themselves. The ‘viz’ is then posted to Tableau Public where Tom and his team will assess its strengths and then give feedback on what changes might be worth making. You will then be given a chance to iterate and resubmit. From there, The Information Lab Ireland will chat to candidates by phone before moving on to face-to-face interviews.
“…instead of waiting for people with the right qualifications to come and join us, we decided we would do it the other way around and pick people who have the right character and attitude and give them the skills they need.”
“One thing we do want to see is people who have dedicated themselves to something,” says Tom. “That could be the piano or the violin or football as long as you have demonstrated an ability to focus. We also want a real mix of people. So if you have worked in Marketing, Science, Language Studies, any field, we want you. We want all sorts.”
Successful candidates can look forward to a two-and-a-half-year fixed contract in which they will gain experience and work with the leading practitioners in Tableau and Alteryx in Ireland. The Information Lab Ireland are keen to emphasise that this in not a work experience placement and is a paid position. From day one you are part of the team.
“This is a really exciting field to get into now,” says Tom. “There is more of a demand for skills in Tableau and Alteryx and we are going to make you the best practitioners of these tools in Dublin. Organisations are moving away from the old ways of collecting, analysing and harnessing data. Older tools just don’t cut it anymore, so the demand is going to grow. We see huge opportunities for people who start with us and the future of this industry looks really solid going forward. People who get into this now, will be seen as pioneers in the future and we are excited for the people who want to get on board. It opens up so many possibilities.”
