We’re delighted to announce that the wider The Information Lab group has won Tableau’s “Data For Good” award for the second year running, in recognition of the work done as part of our TIL+ initiative! Spearheaded by The Information Lab UK, TIL+ centers on the belief that we have a responsibility to share our expertise so that data can be used to help drive positive social change.
TIL+ focusses on a variety of global causes, including:
The Hygiene Bank
The Hygiene Bank’s mission is to provide essential hygiene products to those who could not otherwise access this basic resource. To help ensure The Hygiene Bank located its drop-off and pick-up points in areas where the need was greatest, our team created a visualisation that compared their current sites with the government data on local area deprivation.
The Gambian Education Ministry
The Gambian Education Ministry provides primary and secondary education for Gambian children. They believe that the provision of education will not only benefit each individual but also the success and development of The Gambia. To help the ministry monitor their progress our team created an interactive visualisation displaying KPIs, such as school enrolment and completion rates, which allows them to identify areas where improvement is needed.
E-axes Forum
This non-profit allows for the creation of fiscal policies that support sustainability by facilitating collaborative engagement between economists and policy-makers. The Information Lab consultants created a map that allowed the team at E-axes Forum to easily compare the effectiveness of various global policies, in order to help inform decision making.
The TIL+ initiative also carried out valuable work for the UNDP, Crowd2Map, Operation Fistula, Citizens 4 Change and Meningitis Research Foundation…well done to all involved!
