At the beginning of 2019, The Information Lab Ireland embarked on a journey to make the security of our data and the handling of our clients’ data our top priority.
We recognised that Information Security is based on behaviours and the development of an organisational culture that needed to become the very essence of our fabric rather than a checklist of tasks. Placing this culture at the heart of our business meant we could deliver the highest standards for our clients.
With the help of Phil Byrne, our consultant from enable-iso.com, we started aligning ourselves with the policies and controls of the I.S. EN ISO/IEC 27001:2017 standard and today The Information Lab Ireland are proud to announce that we have been awarded the EN ISO/IEC 27001:2017 certification by the NSAI.
What is ISO 27001?
ISO 27001 provides an international methodology for the implementation, management, and maintenance of information security within a company. Becoming ISO 27001 certified demonstrates conformity of our Information Security Management System (ISMS) with documented standards, and provides our customers with assurance regarding the security of our system.
“We adopted and developed a Quality Management System and from early on in the process we got buy in from everyone in the company,” says COO David Pansegrouw. “We are really lucky to have such a committed team. Throughout 2020 we worked on improving the documentation of our processes, set up an internal audit program to find, assess and mitigate risk and measure ourselves against the ISO 27001 standard. At the start of 2021 we applied to the NSAI to be formally audited against the EN ISO/IEC 27001:2017 standard and today our efforts have been rewarded.”
Continuing to meet the highest standards
“We recognise that Information Security is a continuous journey of improvement and receiving the certificate is just the start. We continue to raise awareness among our staff and audit our processes and controls, and never become complacent.”
“This is an important milestone for The Information Lab Ireland,” says Dave Hackett, CEO. “This internationally recognised certification of best practise in data management and related processes provides our customers with the assurance and standards they require of a data analytics consultancy partner. This is particularly important when managing client data in a remote environment.”
